20,000 Moments Condoms Donated to Women of Worth

Many young South Africans do not know that contraceptives are available. The shipment of more than 20 000 Coral Healthcare condoms has arrived in time for our Women of Worth (WOW) training session on sexual and reproductive health to take place next week. The condoms will be going into health packs that will be distributed to 10 000 participants who have signed up to attend the WOW sessions run by our trained facilitators.

Thousands of young South Africans live in poverty. Lack of confidence and lack of knowledge regarding HIV infection contribute to the stigma that surrounds the disease. At the DTHF, assisted by our partners, we are changing this negative outlook. The Women of Worth programme, funded by the Global Fund to fight AIDS, TB and Malaria is an intervention that aims to train young women to believe in their ability to be the game changers in their lives, prepare for the work place, and take responsibility for their health, especially reproductive health.

Condoms donated by Coral Healthcare will be an important element in our training sessions. This is an exciting partnership and we  greatly appreciate Nikhil Daftary reaching out and providing condoms to help reduce HIV infection and the transmission of STIs. It is an amazing gesture of solidarity with those whose health is at risk.
